Coming Tomorrow....

In the last ten minutes, Anne Arundel County Republican Party Chairman Mike Collins sent out an email message with a slew of documents attached as it relates to proposed bylaw changes to the state Republican Party bylaws. Given the number of documents and the late hour, I will review those changes and post my interpretation and analysis tomorrow evening...

This establishes a process for endorsing candidates in the primary!

Section 3. Candidate Support.
The Party shall not, without the prior approval by at least a two-thirds affirmative vote of the
State Executive Committee, contribute money or in-kind aid to any candidate for any public or
party office except the nominee of the Republican Party or a candidate who is unopposed in the
Republican primary after the filing deadline for that office. Nothing in this section shall preclude
any member of the State Central Committee from personally contributing money or in-kind aid to a
candidate in a Republican primary or Party election.

Adding additional requirements beyond what is written into the state law is illegal!

Any member of a County Central Committee who fails to take or abide by the Oath of
Office may be removed with prior written notice by a two-thirds affirmative vote of
those present at the next regularly scheduled meeting of the State Executive
Committee (described in ARTICLE VI of this document), after which the member
shall be notified in writing of this action within seven days.

More on this Oath of Office concept; Let's say some the pro-choice movement controls a majority in the convention and amends the Oath to say something along the lines of "I do solemnly swear to uphold the woman's right to choose."

What happens to all the pro-lifers in the party? Are they kicked of central committees across the state because they are pro-life?

State law allows for the parties to adopt bylaws therefore they would not be illegal.
