Prior Proper Planning....

So much for Annapolis Ellen Moyer being tech savvy. Or having planning skills....

The whole point of Mayor Ellen O. Moyer's blog, http://ellenmoyer.blogspot.com, is to quickly and easily keep Annapolis residents up on the latest in her travels to sister cities over in Europe. The problem is, it's just not that simple.

Since she didn't take a computer on her trip, Ms. Moyer has been forced to rely on Internet cafes, hotels and other opportunities for free computer access - which aren't always handy.

Luckily, she's handy herself, handwriting page after page of blog notes and faxing them back to her office in Annapolis to be transcribed and loaded onto the Web page.

Sometimes she writes as much as nine pages, in heavy black ink, to make sure they come through the fax clearly. She admits bringing a computer probably would have been a smart move.

"It would have been a heck of a lot easier in the long run," she said, laughing. "It's time-consuming to hand-write and rewrite and only to then have someone type it."

What a completely mindblowing set of statements. I'm sure Annapolis taxpayers are glad to know that somebody is transcribing for the Mayor's personal blog on city time. I wonder if she is trying to be reimbursed for the cost of her Transatlantic faxes too....
