HB448 in the House of Delegates adds 30 new classifications of items that would be newly eligible to be covered under the Maryland State Sales tax. Greg Kline does an outstanding job commenting about this proposed legislation in the newest edition of the Conservative Refuge Podcast. HB1022 is a similar bill.

Two items of special interest in the list. The first being the taxation of prostitution. Second and more important the taxation of a service performed by a Constitutionally appointed officer of the state, the notary of the public. Does anyone know if they charge a tax if the Clerk of the Court performs a marriage ceremony in addition to the fee?
