Rudy Giuliani is the third major candidate to jump into the Presidential pool.

There are a host of reasons why Giuliani, despite his obvious leadership skills, will not be the Republican nominee in 2008. He is too far out of step with the party's base to be considered a likely candidate for the nomination,

Guiliani can win among democrats. Thus, he can win blue states. He's the republicans best choice. I may not agree with him on abortion and gay marriage, but no one can say he isn't a leader.

He will not win the nomination but does weaken John McCain, another occasional moderate with strong foreign policy credentials. The question is what conservative can come forward.

We don't need to win in blue states if we can hold onto the red ones.

guiliani has proven he can't be hillary. he has too much personal baggage to allow him to win both the primary and the general.

McCain is too old.

Republicans lost in 2006 because of a major hit to our base. Look at one of the "second tier" candidates (Huckabee, Romney, Gingrich, ???) to move up and capture the hearts and imaginations of the grassroots, conservative primary voters.
